Clarke Group Development Squad Launch 2007
Wednesday night 12th April, Cavan Co. Board in association with Clarke Group launched the 2007 Clarke Group Development Squads.
Nicholas Walsh, Coaching & Games Manager in football of Cavan, opened the proceedings and introduced George Cartwright, Chairman of Cavan County Board, Diarmaid Marsden, Ulster Council Regional Officer and Clarke Group’s, Paddy Clarke (Director) and Martin Lowry (Marketing Manager) The purpose of the night was to officially welcome Clarke Group as the main sponsor for all our Development Squads from U14 right up to Rookie U20 Squads.
As we all know there is a price on everything at the moment. With the help of Clarke’s we are able to kit out all our squads in a neat and professional manner. Not only will the squads looking well in their attractive gear, but all squads have been kitted out with all the essential training equipment needed to aid the first class coaching from all the Development Squad facilitators and Coaches.
With all squads catering for 250-300 elite young Gaelic footballers, 2006 also sees the establishment of a Development Squad Jersey. The special Development Squad jersey has been designed to create a link between our own club Jerseys and the Kingspan Royal Blue of Cavan. The reasoning behind this jersey is simple. Too many young footballers may have thought in the past that they have already made it at County level, wearing the blue of Cavan so young. Now we as a County will hold the Royal Blue Jersey for the use of the minor, U21 and Senior teams of Cavan. We look to restore pride in the jersey which has been lost since the many All-Ireland victories in the 1950’s. |
