Clarke Group wins E10m Shannon broadband contract
The Fermanagh based Clarke Group has won a E10m broadband cabling contract for the Shannon area.
The contract, which will involve laying 52km of cable through eight towns in the area, means the company has landed more than E30m of broadband business in the past 12 months.
The company’s Communications’ division, which has been enjoying increasing success in the telecoms sector, recently completed three similar projects in Donegal, the North East of Ireland and Fingal.

The Communications Director, Hugh Gormley reveals:
"What’s especially exciting about this latest project is the opportunity of being able to make a significant difference to the industrial and business in the Shannon area. The cabling will not only open up access for businesses to the latest broadband services but is likely to act as a magnet for inward investment by organisations who, until now, may have been put off setting up in the area due to a lack the latest broadband technology."
"Another advantage is the possible retention of existing businesses who could have been considering relocation to somewhere with a more advanced communications’ infrastructure."
He adds: "We believe winning this latest contract underlines our credentials as one of the leading contractors of our kind on the island of Ireland."
The Clarke Group is a family-owned business established in the 1930s and operating across Ireland and GB. Its headquarters are in Lisnaskea, County Fermanagh with further offices in Dublin, Cavan, Sligo, Portlaoise, Galway and Lisburn.
